Casino Night Enforcers Bruce Lewis, left, and Dean Watson

Mendocino Rotary’s primary fundraisers for most of the club’s history were an art auction and golf tournament. A few years ago, we added a Fourth of July barbecue, and this year, Casino Night.

Casino Night was the brainchild of Rotarian Lin Scott. Lin arranged for a Atomic Gaming to bring their professional equipment (roulette and craps tables) and trained dealers to Mendocino for the event. We had music, videos and just plain fun.

Two of our "Floosies"

The theme was the 1930’s and most of the club members got into costume for the event.

We had “floosies” serving drinks and selling raffle tickets for the silent auction, a crew of bartenders, “enforcers” keeping an eye on operations, and money and, other club members, like LaDonna McDonald (event coordinator with Lin) just plain making sure everyone had a great time. The video (click here) pretty much tells the tale.

The funds raised — about $8,000 — will be used to support our many community and international projects.
