The past week has been full of good and not so good news for Mendocino Rotarians.

Sad News: Matt O’Halloran’s 88-year-old  mother is ailing and he headed back last week to care for her.

LaDonna puts arm around missing spouse Rick on their wedding anniversary.

Happy News: Shirley Watson is back on the coast and walking after two surgeries at Stanford to fuse part of her spine. She endured about 12 hours of surgery. Pete Rose mentioned that his wife, Christie’s mother, Betty,  died at age 94. Pete announced this during Happy Dollars because he said he mother-in-law was a great lady and lived a good life right to the end. LaDonna and Rick celebrated a wedding anniversary .. sadly, however,  Rick, was in Hawaii and LaDonna in Mendocino.

Pam donating $790 to Rotary Park

Weekly Card Draw: Pam Hudson picked the joker, winning $790 cash, which she promptly donated to Rotary Park. Thanks Pam!

Casino Night: another wild and crazy event as a large number of our club showed up in Western gear to help raise money for Rotary Park.  Figures aren’t yet in, but it was an enthusiastic crowd. The Casino Night team did a stellar job of organization, led by Gary Hopper. See pictures. Wheatley Allen personally picked the winning ticket of the raffle winner for the beautiful eagle sculpture. Thanks to Wheatley, LaDonna and Tom Honer, the sculpture raised $10,000 for Rotary Park.

Knights of Columbus Breakfast: the monthly breakfast proceeds were donated to Rotary Park. A big turnout by Rotarians.

Other News: President-Elect John is just back from a week in New Orleans where he and wife, Betty, took son Justin for his 21st birthday.  If you notice a little bulge around the waste, that’s all them there beignets and creole cooking.
